Common Issues
Here are solutions to the most frequently encountered issues.
I cannot access certain pages
Page access is controlled by your role. If you see a lock icon on a navigation link, it means your current role does not have permission for that feature. Ask your company admin to update your role or assign you a role with the necessary permissions.
My KB generation failed
KB generation can fail if your AI usage balance exceeds the monthly cap, or if there is a temporary issue with the AI service. Check the Billing page to verify your AI balance has not reached the cap. If the balance is fine, try generating again -- temporary errors usually resolve on retry.
Email fetch is not finding my emails
If an email fetch returns fewer emails than expected, check these common causes:
- Date range -- Make sure the date range covers the period when the emails were sent
- Gmail labels -- If you filtered by labels, ensure the target emails are tagged with those labels
- Gmail categories -- If you excluded categories like Promotions or Social, emails in those categories will be skipped
- IMAP access -- Some email providers require you to enable IMAP access in their settings
Website crawl returned no pages
The website may be blocking crawlers, using client-side JavaScript rendering, or requiring authentication. Try crawling a simpler page (like the site's documentation or blog) first. If the site requires login, KnowStack cannot crawl it.
I cannot see my team member's changes in the KB
KB edits are saved immediately, but you may need to refresh the page to see changes made by other team members. Try refreshing the page or navigating away and back to the KB.
My export is not downloading
Exports are processed in the background and may take a minute or two for large Knowledge Bases. You will receive a notification when the export is ready. Check your notification center (bell icon) for the download link.
